2 Die as Plane Crashes Into Sea
The bodies of a man and woman, still strapped to their seats, were found in the submerged wreckage of a single-engine two-seater plane that plunged into the sea early today about a quarter-mile off Newport Beach, sheriff’s deputies said.
Authorities said fishermen standing at the end of the Newport Beach Pier reported seeing the small plane crash into the ocean about 2 a.m. The names of the victims, their point of origin and destination and the make of the plane were not immediately known.
