Paramount Pictures Corp. on Thursday named Mel Harris president of the Paramount Television Group. Harris, formerly president of the company’s network television and video distribution division, replaces Richard H. Frank, who resigned Wednesday.

As head of the group, Harris, 42, will oversee all television activity at the company, reporting to Frank Mancuso, Paramount chairman and chief executive. Harris said Thursday that he could not comment “at this point” on whether a successor will be named to his former position.

Dan Sherkow has been appointed vice president-production for Tri-Star Pictures, Los Angeles. He previously was vice president-theater productions and director of East Coast picture production for Paramount Pictures Corp.

Thousand Oaks-based Corona Data Systems Inc. has appointed Mike Pontelle vice president-sales and Michael P. Sutherland vice president-engineering.

Paul McIntire has been named group vice president of Dataproducts Corp.’s serial printer group, Woodland Hills.

Joan Williams has been named senior vice president and chief administrative loan officer at Westwood Savings & Loan Assn., Los Angeles.

John L. Baptista has been named vice president-engineering and technical services for MGM Laboratories, a unit of MGM/UA Entertainment Co., Culver City.
