LAS VEGAS, Nev. — A sophisticated drug lab used to manufacture more than $63 million worth of illegal methamphetamines was seized Saturday by narcotics detectives who arrested two men after a high-speed chase.
The arrests and seizures followed a three-month investigation, police Lt. Mike Manning said.
The two men arrested Saturday were identified as Harold Lyons, 49, and Randall Burnside, 35. Both carried Idaho identification.
They were charged with conspiracy to manufacture controlled substances.
Manning said eight to 10 other people also were sought on racketeering charges in connection with the illegal drug operation.
The investigation began in December 1984 when members of the Los Angeles Police Department narcotics squad monitored the purchase of drug ingredients in Southern California and their transportation to Las Vegas, Manning said.
