Spring Training / Angels : Beniquez's Late Arrival Costs Him $245; Sconiers Expected

Outfielder Juan Beniquez, who missed the Angels' first full-squad workout Friday, reported Saturday and was fined $245.

First baseman Daryl Sconiers, who missed the Friday and Saturday practices, was expected to arrive Saturday night. It is believed he will be fined the same rate.

In other developments:

Outfielder Mike Brown and catcher-first baseman-outfielder Darrel Miller signed 1985 contracts Saturday. Six players remain unsigned, including Dick Schofield, Ron Romanick and Gary Pettis.

The availability of infielder Rick Burleson, whose comeback from a second rotator cuff tear was derailed by a dislocated shoulder suffered lifting weights Dec. 31, remains in doubt. Dr. Lewis Yocum, the team physician, said Burleson's primary problem remains a lack of feeling in his right hand, the result of nerve damage. Dr. Yocum said the condition is improving, but there is no reason for Burleson to report to spring training until the hand is 100%.
