A North Hollywood life insurance agent pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court to two counts of aiding and abetting interstate transportation of stolen property. Morris Levine, 61, will be sentenced May 13.

Levine and fellow agent William Ekaireb, 69, were indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly defrauding their company of more than $1 million by submitting phony death certificates to collect settlements in the names of policyholders not yet dead.

Levine faces a possible penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine up to $20,000.

Ekaireb remains in jail in lieu of $350,000 bail.
