Valley Beats Orange Coast
Valley College used a four-run sixth inning Tuesday to defeat Orange Coast College, 6-3, in Costa Mesa.
Bob Hernandez went the distance for the Monarchs to collect his first win, allowing nine hits while striking out two and walking three. Jim Brennen took the loss, his record falling to 2-1.
Valley, 4-4-1, scored on an single by first baseman Dave Serpa in the second inning and double by designated hitter Sal Villasenor in the third before combining four singles, two walks, and a fielder’s choice for four runs in the sixth. Mike Raasch, Tim Riley, and Ron Dale each had an RBI single in the inning.
