College Basketball Roundup : Tisdale Gets 30; Sooners Rip Oklahoma State, 116-91

Wayman Tisdale scored 30 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead Oklahoma to a 116-91 victory over Oklahoma State Tuesday night at Norman, Okla., in the first round of the Big Eight Conference tournament.

It was the eighth 100-point game of the season for the Sooners, Tuesday’s Games

which ties the conference record. They also equaled a league record by winning their 33rd straight at home.

Oklahoma also set a team record by attempting 99 field goals against the Cowboys.

On Friday night at Kansas City, Mo., the Sooners (26-5, 13-1) play the winner of tonight’s Kansas State-Missouri game.

In the other Big Eight first-round game Tuesday night, Kansas defeated Nebraska, 74-69, at Lawrence, Kan. The Jayhawks (25-7) next play the winner of tonight’s Colorado-Iowa State game.

Wichita St. 69, Southern Illinois 66--Xavier McDaniel scored 25 points and pulled down 21 rebounds to lead the Shockers (16-12) at Wichita, Kan., in a first-round game of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. The game marked the 62nd consecutive time McDaniel has scored in double figures. Southern Illinois finished at 14-14.

In a semifinal Thursday night at Terre Haute, Ind., Wichita State will face Indiana State, a 66-61 winner over Indiana State at Normal, Ill.

In other MVC tournament first-round games, Bradley beat Creighton, 66-59, and Tulsa defeated West Texas State, 74-69.
