Acting on recommendations by a citizens advisory committee, the City Council has approved eight community development programs totaling $756,917 for the 1985-86 fiscal year. Existing residential and commercial revitalization programs, along with graffiti removal, will be continued. New programs for next year are senior citizen nutrition, independent living skills training for the handicapped, upgrading of facilities at the YMCA Anita M. Buktenica Youth and Family Center, and two projects to provide sidewalk access for people in wheelchairs. The projects will be funded with community development block grant money from the federal Housing and Urban Development Department.
