Stephen Stothers, Superior Court Judge, Dies at 64
Torrance Superior Court Judge Stephen R. Stothers died Sunday evening at Daniel Freeman Hospital in Inglewood. He was 64 and lived in Los Angeles.
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Stothers attended USC’s law school after serving as captain of a Navy patrol boat during World War II. A former personal injury defense attorney, he was appointed to the Inglewood Municipal Court by Gov. Edmund G. Brown in 1967 and to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 1970 by Gov. Ronald Reagan.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. today at the Garden Chapel, Inglewood Mortuary, 1206 Centinela Ave., Inglewood.
Stothers is survived by his wife, Gloria, and his three daughters, Jane Stratton and Julie and Susan Stothers.
