Concerned about burgeoning traffic jams around fast-growing San Jose, a committee studying the future of the Bay Area city has given top priority to building at least two more rail lines to carry Silicon Valley commuters. The Santa Clara County Transportation 2000 Committee recommended that one rail line be installed between San Jose and the northern part of the county and another one between Sunnyvale and the Bay Area Rapid Transit station in Fremont. A third rail line between downtown San Jose and Los Gatos also should be studied, the committee said.
