Berkeley Vice Mayor Veronika Fukson was ordered to appear in Municipal Court on a charge of stealing a container of eyeliner makeup worth $4.75, the district attorney’s office said. Fukson, who has served on the Berkeley City Council since 1979, was detained by a drug store security guard, who said she saw the vice mayor stuff the eyeliner into her jacket. Fukson, 44, was released on her promise to appear in court. The Alameda County district attorney’s office has told Fukson that she will be charged with the offense, her attorney said.
