Storm Stalls and Clouds the Forecast
Hold everything, the National Weather Service said in effect Friday, as a storm system stalled 750 miles offshore and cast doubt upon forecasts of possible rain in Southern California by this afternoon.
“At the present time,” the weather service said, “the storm is too far off the coast to bring rain to Southern California. It is expected to remain stationary through Saturday night. About all we can expect is variable high cloudiness coming up from the tropics ahead of the storm.”
The weather system might begin moving again by Sunday, the forecasters conceded, meaning cloudy skies and a 30% chance of rain by then. That chance might increase to 60% by Sunday night.
On the other hand. . . .
As for today, the best guess is for mostly cloudy weather, with highs from 65 to 73 degrees.
