Industry Mayor John Ferrero, who suffered multiple injuries when the car he was driving collided with a fast-moving train Monday morning, has been transferred out of the intensive care unit at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina and is now listed in good condition, a hospital spokesman said. Ferrero, 73, who had a cut on the right ear, a broken left leg and a broken right collar bone, was alert and listed in fair condition when he was first hospitalized, the spokesman said. Ferrero is not yet scheduled to be released from the hospital, the spokesman said. The collision occurred at 7:30 a.m. when the car Ferrero was driving at about 15 m.p.h. northbound on Old Ranch Road in Industry was struck by a westbound train traveling about 60 m.p.h. on the Union Pacific rail line, said Industry sheriff’s Lt. Arnie Verdugo. Ferrero’s car was demolished, Verdugo said.
