Glendora

In three separate annexations, Glendora has increased its size by about 50 acres. Two of the parcels are in the city’s hilly northeast corner, including Winding Way, and Wick, Lilac and Hollyhill lanes. Another 20 acres in the northwest corner include Yucca Ridge and Hicrest Roads. City Clerk Culver Heaton said all the areas are sparsely populated and will not significantly change Glendora’s population figures.

After several months of research to determine if Glendora has a city flower, the chairman of an ad hoc committee has learned that it does not, and she believes it should not. Judy A. Goodhouse, who heads the committee and whose husband, Richard, is on the city’s Bougainvillea Festival committee, has asked the City Council to drop her idea to officially claim the bougainvillea as Glendora’s own. Goodhouse said research reveals that other blossoms already decorate the city seal, citrus groves have always dominated the area and several floral species have been developed by local nurseries, making the choice difficult. “It would be impossible to come up with just one representative flower,” Goodhouse said.
