Hogg Resigns at Louisiana Tech
Sonja Hogg, who started the Louisiana Tech women’s basketball program and led the team to national championships in 1981 and 1982, announced Monday that she is quitting after this year’s NCAA playoffs to go into business.
Leon Barmore, co-head coach at the school since 1982, will remain as head coach.
Hogg, 39, has coached teams that won 306 and lost 54 in the last 11 years. She thanked Barmore for helping with her success. Both coaches have denied reports that friction existed between them.
Tech, shooting for a berth in the Final Four for the seventh time, will play San Diego State Friday in the NCAA’s Midwest Regional at Monroe, La.
