Peter Nero Appointed Music Director for Master Symphony 1985-86 Season

The Master Symphony Orchestra has appointed Peter Nero music director for the 1985-86 season.

Nero, a conductor for the Philly Pops Orchestra, is a composer and arranger who has recorded 50 albums. He has two Grammy Awards to his credit and a Gold Record for the single and album "Summer of '42."

To raise money for the Norwalk-based orchestra's season, a Phone-A-Thon membership drive will be held Friday through Sunday at Norwalk City Hall.

Orchestra members, board members and volunteers will answer phones and accept pledges from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Pledges can be made by calling (213) 929-BOPS (for Best of Pops) or tax-deductible contributions can be sent in care of the orchestra to Norwalk City Hall, 12700 Norwalk Blvd., Norwalk, Calif. 90650.
