From Joan Borsten in Rome

GUSHING FOR A FILM--A curiosity just opened in London--”Not Quite Jerusalem,” one of the most pro-Israeli foreign productions in years. It was financed in part by Kuwaitis.

A light comedy about young Europeans and Americans who volunteer to work on a kibbutz . They get whipped into shape by the glamorous Joanna Pacula (“Gorky Park”), who plays a no-nonsense, tractor-driving sabra (native born Israeli).

It would seem an unlikely investment for Gulf Arabs, despite the success that these same investors had with director-producer Lewis Gilbert’s last film, “Educating Rita.”
