MASTER SYMPHONY NAMES DIRECTOR

Conductor/pianist Peter Nero is the new music director of the Master Symphony, John Barcellona, general manager of the orchestra, announced. He succeeds founder-music director Philip Westin, who resigned in March, 1984.

Nero, the jazz pianist who made a number of appearances with the Master Symphony during Westin’s tenure, will lead the orchestra in a Gershwin program scheduled for June 15 at Excelsior High School Auditorium in Norwalk. In addition, Nero will conduct three more concerts scheduled for the 1985-86 season Barcellona said.
