26 ‘Superfund’ Sites Proposed
Associated Press
WASHINGTON —
The Environmental Protection Agency today proposed the addition of 26 more hazardous waste sites, including one in Sunnyvale, Calif., to the “Superfund” priority list for cleanup. The action, if made final, would make most of the sites eligible for federal cleanup funds.
If all 26 sites are approved, the Superfund priority list would grow to 812 sites. Today’s list includes Moffett Naval Air Station in Sunnyvale, whose cleanup would have to be paid for by the Defense Department, and sites in 18 other states.
