Santa Ana : Man Fatally Injured in Crash of New Motorcycle

A 25-year-old man who was showing off his new motorcycle to neighbors crashed into a parked truck Thursday and died more than four hours later in a hospital, police said.

Charlie Brower of Santa Ana lost control of his motorcycle after making a wide turn in the middle of the 1400 block of Gunther Street about 4:35 p.m., police said. Brower, an inexperienced cyclist, was traveling at about 25 m.p.h. when he lost control of the motorcycle and rear-ended the truck, police said.

Police said Brower was not wearing a helmet but appeared unharmed except for a pain in his side and an elbow abrasion. However, he went with paramedics to Fountain Valley Community Hospital for further observation.

Later at the hospital, he lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at 9 p.m., police said. Cause of death was attributed to internal injuries, a coroner’s office spokesman said.
