A 25-year-old man who was showing off his new motorcycle to neighbors crashed into a parked truck Thursday and died more than four hours later in a hospital, police said.

Charlie Brower of Santa Ana lost control of his motorcycle after making a wide turn in the middle of the 1400 block of Gunther Street about 4:35 p.m., police said. Brower, an inexperienced cyclist, was traveling at about 25 m.p.h. when he lost control of the motorcycle and rear-ended the truck, police said.

Police said Brower was not wearing a helmet but appeared unharmed except for a pain in his side and an elbow abrasion. However, he went with paramedics to Fountain Valley Community Hospital for further observation.
