Oregon State Beats Aztecs to Win Riverside Title, 6-5
Oregon State defeated San Diego State, 6-5, in the championship game of the Riverside Invitational college baseball tournament Saturday night. The Aztecs had lost an earlier game to Missouri, 10-9.
The Beavers beat Air Force, 5-2, to clinch the Gold Division championship of the eight-team tournament. OSU also had a 14-6 win over UCLA in a Saturday afternoon game. Scott Klug and Keith Krafve drove in two runs apiece against the Bruins.
The Aztecs were victimized by a grand slam by Missouri left fielder Mike Rogers, who had five RBIs in the game. Rogers’ home run came in the first inning, when the Tigers scored eight runs.
San Diego State finished the tournament with a 5-3 record. Overall, the Aztecs, who entered the game ranked 18th in the nation, are 30-14.
