The Rev. Kermit Castellanos, rector emeritus of All Saints’ Episcopal Church of Beverly Hills and the pastor credited with rejuvenating that church’s youth program 25 years ago, died Tuesday. He was 76 and died of cancer at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles.

Castellanos came to All Saints’ from New York City in 1949. He was ordained in New York City in 1933 and had served as rector of parishes in Astoria and Brooklyn. At All Saints’ he served as an associate rector with a special interest in youth and within 10 years had increased youth church membership from 200 to 1,000 with two church school sessions necessary each Sunday.

In 1969 he succeeded the Rev. J. Herbert Smith as rector and was named rector emeritus on his retirement in 1975.
