The World : Egypt Links Libya to Plot
Egyptian security officials said they uncovered a plot “guided personally” by Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi to destabilize the Cairo government, adding that five Egyptians have been arrested as conspirators. They added that the plotters planned to recruit Egyptians unhappy with the government of President Hosni Mubarak and send them to European countries to be trained by Libyans in the use of firearms and explosives. Meanwhile, the Libyan news agency quoted a Kadafi speech in which he urged Syrian, Iraqi and Lebanese guerrillas to use violence, including suicide attacks, to gain control in Mideast countries.
