2-Car Crash Hurts 6 at Van Nuys Corner

Six people were injured Tuesday afternoon, four of them seriously, when the station wagon in which they were riding was struck by a van at a Van Nuys intersection, Los Angeles police said.

Police said the van, driven by Bartola Mejia, 32, of Arleta, collided with a station wagon on Sepulveda Boulevard, injuring five teen-agers in the station wagon.

Listed in serious condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center were Rebecca Rimbach, 15, and Arthur Pena, 17, both of Granada Hills. Teresia Rapan, 16, of Mission Hills, was in serious condition at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys and Rosalinda Smith, 16, also of Mission Hills, was in stable condition at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills.

Jenny Bragg, 16, the fifth passenger in the station wagon, was treated and released from Holy Cross Hospital. Mejia was released from Valley Presbyterian Hospital.

The 3:45 p.m. accident at Vanowen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard also caused minor damage to two other vehicles.

Police said Mejia was cited for making an illegal left turn.
