Law for Satellite Dishes:Costa Mesa residents who own satellite television antennas will now have to keep them out of their neighbors’ sight. An ordinance, passed this week by the City Council and due to take effect May 1, requires that the dish-shaped antennas be hidden behind screens, fences or landscaping. The ordinance applies to antennas both at ground level and on rooftops. Building permits are required before residents may erect the antennas and screens will be required when the permits are issued.
