The county Board of Supervisors has approved $650,000 in emergency funding to repair expected leaks and breakage of the water mains in the Big Rock Mesa area where continual earth movement has disrupted the water system.

An emergency condition was declared in the area in August, 1983, when the county authorized repairs of water mains along Pacific Coast Highway that had been broken by land movement. According to the Department of Public Works, the county expects the problems to continue.
