Fluor Corp. said Monday that its engineering subsidiary has received a contract to modernize controls at three Amoco Oil Co. refineries. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

The agreement calls for the Chicago and Houston divisions of Fluor Engineers Inc. to update the refineries’ controls by replacing them with computer-driven distribution monitoring systems.

Although the new systems will not increase the capacity of the refineries, they are expected to allow the plants to operate at greater efficiency and with reduced energy costs, Fluor said.

The refineries involved are located in Texas City, Texas; Whiting, Ind.; and Yorktown, Va. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 1986.

PSA said Monday it will add two nonstop flights a day between Orange County’s John Wayne Airport and Sacramento, starting April 28. Currently PSA operates nonstop flights out of John Wayne to San Francisco and San Jose. Previously the San Diego-based airline announced it will add nonstop service from John Wayne to Las Vegas, beginning May 23, and extra flights to San Jose, beginning April 17.
