A 26-year-old driver was killed and his passenger was injured when their car ran a red light and collided with another car, Costa Mesa police said Sunday.
Randolph Simon Ramirez of Fullerton was dead on arrival at Fountain Valley Community Hospital’s trauma center, Lt. Tom Durham said.
Police said Ramirez was southbound on Newport Boulevard at 10 p.m. Saturday and failed to stop at a red light at Victoria Street. Denise Paine, 17, of Costa Mesa, was traveling west on Victoria and collided with Ramirez’s car in the intersection, Durham said.
Both Ramirez and his passenger, Mark Patrick Carter, 25, of Fullerton, were thrown from the car, Durham said.
Carter was treated at Costa Mesa Medical Center Hospital and released. Paine was not injured.
