4 Protesters Arrested at El Segundo Refinery
Four members of the environmental protection group Greenpeace were booked on trespassing charges Tuesday after they chained themselves to machinery and tried to unfurl protest banners at the Chevron Oil refinery in El Segundo, police said.
Two members, Erica Rosenthal, 22, of San Francisco and James Puckett, 30, of Seattle, climbed a 100-foot oil storage tank in mountain climbing gear while carrying a banner, police Capt. Tim Grimmond said. The other pair, Pia Mancia, 22, of San Francisco and Franklin Herron, 33, of Seattle, chained themselves to a road grader on the South Sepulveda Boulevard property.
