A San Diego police officer pleaded innocent Thursday to a charge of molesting the 3-year-old daughter of his girlfriend in El Cajon. Lynn Ellsworth Alps, 32, a six-year veteran, surrendered Thursday and San Diego Municipal Court Judge Wayne Peterson set bail at $5,000.
Alps was charged with one felony count of performing a lewd and lascivious act upon a child. San Diego County district attorney spokesman Steve Casey said no further charges are planned.
Peterson ordered a bail review for Tuesday and warned Alps not to contact his girlfriend or the child if he does post bail and is released from jail.
A May 2 preliminary hearing was also set.
Casey said the investigation was done by the El Cajon Police Department, apparently because the girlfriend and the child live in El Cajon. Alps lives in Chula Vista.
