Chemical Warehouse Burns
A fire of unknown origin raged out of control for 80 minutes in a Vernon chemical warehouse early today before more than 100 firefighters from seven departments brought it under control at 6:25 a.m., fire officials said.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, which destroyed the building owned by Estech General at 4060 26th St., said Vernon Fire Capt. Larry Weaver. The blaze sent up a column of smoke that could be seen for miles. Damage was estimated at $250,000, officials said. No evacuations were ordered.
