A sting operation by three fire agencies resulted in the filing of a 42-count criminal complaint against a Tarzana firm that allegedly cheated customers by failing to properly service fire extinguishers. Workers at nine other fire extinguisher companies where customers also were allegedly defrauded were cited in an additional 85-count complaint, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office said. The complaint alleges that the workers charged customers but failed to check and refill extinguishers, which lose fire-fighting properties unless they are serviced. Myron Seligson, owner of National Fire Extinguisher Service Co. of Tarzana and the focus of 42 counts, faces arraignment May 23. The other nine defendants will be arraigned next week.
