The City Council gave conceptual approval to a program to provide loans to low- and moderate- income people who are interested in purchasing their apartments under the city’s Tenant Home Ownership plan.
The program, approved by voters last June, allows landlords to convert their apartment buildings into condominiums, while protecting tenants who do not wish to purchase their units. The city will draft specific guidelines for the loan program in coming months.
