Good Weather, Big Turnout Expected for Trout Opener

Share

All signs Friday pointed to good weather and a big turnout for today’s opening of the Eastern Sierra-Crowley Lake fishing season.

Crowley Lake officials were predicting something close to the record crowd of 16,650 which turned out at Crowley on opening day a year ago. At 3 p.m. Friday, several thousand fishermen were already inside Crowley’s gates. About 150 fishermen towing boats were in line outside, awaiting boat safety inspection clearance.

The mid-afternoon weekend weather forecast called for northerly winds of 10-20 m.p.h. at Crowley and other Eastern Sierra fishing sites. Under clear skies Friday, the Eastern Sierra high was 65 degrees. Friday morning’s low was 28, but the forecast for lows today is 13 to 23.
