Highway Barrier Gets Funds:The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved $17,000 in federal revenue sharing funds for the emergency placement of a temporary concrete barrier separating northbound and southbound traffic on a deadly two-mile segment of Pacific Coast Highway between Beach Boulevard and the Santa Ana River. Huntington Beach and county officials estimate that more than 200 traffic accidents involving three deaths and 112 injuries have occurred along the stretch of highway since 1983. Huntington Beach and the California Department of Transportation are expected to contribute additional funding, officials said.
