San Diego County supervisors on Tuesday voted to extend for 30 days the county’s contracts with six hospitals serving as trauma care centers. The contracts with Mercy, Scripps Memorial, Sharp Memorial, Children’s and Palomar hospitals and the UC San Diego Medical Center will now expire May 31. In the meantime, Chief Administrative Officer Clifford Graves will continue to negotiate new three-year agreements with five of the hospitals and a six-month provisional agreement with Palomar Hospital. Signing of the new contracts has been delayed by a dispute over whether Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside will be designated by the county as a trauma care center.
