Military Giving Away Dog Center Dropouts

SAN ANTONIO —
The military has no use for dogs that won’t bite, so it’s giving away dropouts from the Department of Defense Dog Center’s aggression course at Lackland Air Force Base, officials say.
A $5 fee to cover city-required rabies tags is all that is required to obtain a healthy German shepherd from the center, according to Ross Day, a public affairs spokesman.
The 15 government-owned dogs that “washed out” excelled in obedience classes but flunked certification requirements, he said.
