Ruelas Stops Hernandez in Three at Olympic
Joe Ruelas stopped Juan Carlos Hernandez at the end of the third round Thursday night in a scheduled 10-round featherweight bout at the Olympic Auditorium.
The ringside doctor, Dr. Bernhart Schwartz, stopped the fight due to a cut over the right eye of Hernandez (16-3-1), suffered midway through the round.
Ruelas (15-2) of Placentia, dominated the fight from the start, and Hernandez of Los Angeles could match neither the hand speed nor the greater variety of blows delivered by the winner.
