Share

Two new housing projects built specifically for senior citizens--one in Huntington Beach and one in Garden Grove--are about to open.

Huntington Beach’s Emerald Cove, which received a Certificate of National Merit last year from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), was dedicated Friday.

The $6-million complex, completed last month, is fully occupied, providing residents with 164 studio and one-bedroom apartments with monthly rents ranging from $237 to $315. The four-acre project site--west of Beach Boulevard and south of Talbert Avenue--is owned by the Redevelopment Agency.

Donald S. Jordan Manor, a three-story apartment building next to Garden Grove City Hall, will be dedicated at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Jordan Manor’s Board of Directors competed with eight other Orange County organizations for $3 million in HUD funding for the project.
