Drama students from Granada Hills High School will perform a scene from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” on the stage of the CTG/Ahmanson Theatre Wednesday as part of an award for being one of four finalists in the 65th Annual Drama Teachers Assn. of Southern California Shakespeare Festival.
This is the second year that outstanding high school drama groups have been invited to perform at the Ahmanson. Also appearing in scenes from Shakespeare will be drama students from Beverly Hills High, Corona del Mar High and Glen Wilson High in Hacienda Heights.
The performances are scheduled to begin shortly after 3 p.m. After the students complete their scenes, a cash grant of $400 will be presented to the drama department of each school. In the week after the performance, award certificates will be sent to the schools and to individuals judged to have given performances of “particular merit.”
