Volunters Finish Interval House Shelter Addition

Share

The McNaughton Children’s Center, a new facility at Interval House’s Midway City house in Seal Beach, was dedicated last week.

Jack and Nancy McNaughton were the main contributors, giving $70,000 toward construction of the 2,000-square-foot addition, built and designed by volunteers including John De Leonardi, general contractor, and Adele Faulkner, an interior designer who coordinated members of the Orange County chapter, American Society of Interior Designers. The center still needs funds for bunk beds, furniture, draperies, carpets, an institutional freezer and playground equipment.

Interval House provides emergency shelter, counseling, legal assistance, and educational and employment referrals to Orange County families affected by domestic violence. Isa Smashey Rogers, a co-founder, called the children’s center “a sorely needed addition, which cannot fail to relieve our often overcrowded condition.”
