Santa Ana : Police Departments Set for Cop’er Bowl Clash
The kickoff for Cop’er Bowl VII, the football game of the year for the Santa Ana Hogs and the Orange Bulldogs, is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Santa Ana’s Eddie West Field.
The Santa Ana Hogs are members of the city’s Police Department. And the Bulldogs belong to the Orange Police Department.
Cop’er Bowl proceeds will go to the two police associations’ Widows and Orphans funds (for the families of officers killed in the line of duty), college and high school athletic programs and a general athletic fund to benefit youth groups throughout Orange County.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Hogs will be coached by the Rancho Santiago College football staff, headed by Dave Ogas. The Hogs enter the game looking for revenge after suffering a 20-12 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs in last year’s game. Even Miss Piglet, the team’s official mascot, will make an appearance in an attempt to boost her team’s morale.
The Bulldogs, making their third Cop’er Bowl appearance, are coached by Bob Lester and his staff from El Modena High School.
