SHARE, a Los Angeles volunteer group, has contributed $250,000 for research and clinical programs for the mentally retarded at the UCLA School of Medicine.

The group was established in 1953 by seven women, and now has 80 members and has raised more than $8 million. Through the years, SHARE has supported the Exceptional Children’s Foundation, sheltered workshops for the older retarded people, recreational programs and a resident home and art center for the gifted retarded.

The $250,000 gift will be used for two programs in the Mental Retardation and Child Psychiatry Division of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. One beneficiary will be the Mental Retardation Research Center and the other will be the mental retardation and developmental disabilities clinical program.
