Share

A portion of La Brea Avenue near Melrose was closed for three hours after reports of a gasoline leak. Police closed the 700 block of La Brea while Southern California Gas Co. officials measured the amount of gasoline seeping out of sewage 15 feet below ground. “We have found fairly high ratings of gasoline in pockets,” Fire Department Chief Claude Creasey said. “We will be analyzing samples to determine the amount and cause of gasoline in the area. “There are a lot of stations in the area, but we can not guess where the problem is,” he said.
