A West Hollywood palm reader was arraigned on charges she allegedly bilked a grieving woman out of $21,000 that was supposed to be donated to charities, authorities said. The palm reader, Janice Eve, 28, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies after the unidentified woman, 41, called authorities when she became suspicious after giving the $21,000 to be donated anonymously to several charities. “The victim, who was grieving over the loss of her mother, made up to 50 visits to Eve’s palm reading business, during which time she was told that her conscience would be clear and her grief would disappear if she donated . . . to charities selected by the suspect,” Deputy Lynda Edmonds said. Eve was being held at Sybil Brand Institute in lieu of $100,000 bail.
