Car Rear-Ends Truck; Camarillo Woman Dies
A40-year-old Camarillo woman was killed Friday morning when her car rear-ended a slow-moving tractor-trailer on the westbound Ventura Freeway in Calabasas, authorities said.
Lajuanda Allen, the victim, veered to the right across several freeway lanes for an unknown reason and hit the truck traveling uphill at about 35 m.p.h. just west of Parkway Calabasas at 6:40 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Ken Rosenberg.
Allen was treated by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics and pronounced dead on arrival at Westlake Community Hospital in Westlake, Rosenberg said. The truck’s driver, Daryl Cook, 37, of El Toro, was not hurt and will not be cited, he said. An autopsy was to be conducted today.
