Irvine
School Official Hired:Joseph B. Holder, an 11-year veteran of the Corona-Norco Unified School District, has been named the Irvine Unified School District’s new deputy superintendent of business support services. In a 3-0 vote, with two members absent, the Irvine Unified School District Board of Education on Tuesday chose Holder from a field of four finalists for the position. Holder will replace Ron Upton, Irvine’s deputy superintendent since 1981, who will retire Sept. 30. A search for a replacement for Upton had been under way since last month. Before joining Corona-Norco as assistant superintendent for business services, Holder was general manager and senior vice president of Culligan Water Conditioning Inc. in Riverside. Holder will assume his new duties and a $55,500 annual salary on July 1.
