Procter & Gamble Co. filed lawsuits against four people in three states today, accusing them of spreading false and malicious statements associating the company with Satanism.

The suits represent the Cincinnati-based company’s latest offensive against the Satan rumors it has been fighting since 1982. The suits were filed against James H. Johnson of Madison Heights, Va., Mary and Clem Folejewski of Dunmore, Pa., and George Embers of Wichita, Kan. The four are accused of libeling P&G;’s character by making statements and distributing literature which says P&G; supported the church of Satan and that the P&G; trademark is a symbol of Satanism.
