CSUN Doubles Team Reaches Quarterfinals
The CSUN doubles team of Pierre Mareschal and Ed Charles advanced Thursday to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II National Tennis Championships with a 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 win over Rozell Lightfoot and Datas Murray of Hampton University.
Mareschal also advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-0, 7-6 singles victory over Danny Olesen of Angelo State, Texas, in the opening round at Cal State Northridge.
CSUN’s Bill Johnson, who was seeded 12th, was upset by Greg Stickle of Ferris State, Michigan, 3-6,7-6,6-2.
Ed Charles lost to Stephen Enriquez of Angelo State 6-4, 6-4. CSUN’s other singles competitor Robert Burns lost to Jonas Martennsson of Rollins College of Florida.
