Tustin : What Game Will Have a Tournament on June 1?

Share

To round out an already festive weekend, a Trivial Pursuit tournament with hundreds of dollars worth of prizes has been planned for June 1, preceding the popular El Camino Real Chili Cook-off by one day.

The tournament will begin at 11 a.m. at the Courtyard Shopping Center on the corner of 1st Street and Newport Avenue and is expected to last past 4 in the afternoon.

Each four-person team will be charged a tax-deductible filing fee of $100, with proceeds going to COPES (Child or Parental Emergency Service), a nonprofit organization working to stop child abuse through counseling, temporary shelters and educational and informational services.

Entries will be accepted up to noon, May 31 and are available at the Community Services Office in City Hall, 300 Centennial Way, and at the Tustin News, 649 B St.

“Championship” and “consolation” brackets will ensure two opportunities for each team to win. Questions will be taken from the Genus Edition of Trivial Pursuit, with an alternate choice available from other editions of the game.

Trivia tournament prizes include Genus II editions of Trivial Pursuit.

The chili cook-off the following day is expected to draw more than 3,000 chili lovers, with 40 teams entered and ready to go. For $3, individuals can purchase cook-off buttons and four tasting tickets, which may be exchanged at any chili booth for a sample. As in the trivia tournament, all proceeds will go to COPES.
